Is there a way we can see who the finalists are?
Hi Jeff, Can you please tell me why some semi-finalists are in red and some in gray? I’m so excited to see my novel, The Improbable Wonders of Moojie Littleman, in the literary group! Most grateful.
The Red are the Finalists. The gray are the semifinalists. Per the headings….that I fixed now.
I’m SO very honored to have Sea Glass Cottage named as a finalist in the Kindle Book Awards!! Thank you!!

Why don’t you have a historical fiction category?
Hi Juliet,
We could ask that same question for 20 more sub-genres. The truth is, our Kindle Book Awards is manned by our top reviewers and staff, and if we want to do a good job we have to limit the categories into broader categories. In this case, Historical fiction would fall into “Literary fiction” or if the Historical novel had romance, it would fall in the romance category, etc. The Kindle Book Awards is less concerned with nailing down every genre/sub-genre, and more concerned with awarding the best writing. So if you submit a Historical fiction into the Literary fiction category, you are not competing against other sub-genres, you are competing against the quality of writing. We have over 30 current volunteer reviewers, and our staff, but as staff members, we can only handle 1 genre each (and still do a good job with the daily activities), and we only employ our top reviewers to judge–and these folks are serious readers, and proven, steadfast reviewers over the years. Of course we are always open to taking new reviewers, especially authors who love a particular genre, who would later be considered for a judging position, if they were a quality/consistent reviewer. The problem there is, most authors, like everyone else, don’t have/or want to make time, to screen 100 books, and read 20 full-length books over the course of 4-5 months. The work load is immense, and requires our judges and staff to dedicate all their free time to this contest. So as you can see, it’s not easy to find a screener/judge for every sub-genre. I hope that helps makes sense of why we only have 7 categories. More importantly, if you’d like to enter our annual Kindle Book Awards, be sure to subscribe to our author newsletter (link is on this page).
