How are supposed to nominate a book (“Native Roots. . .”) if we can’t read it. It doesn’t seem to be available on Amazon.com. The link you provide only sends me to a page to nominate the book, with no clue about getting the book to read. An excerpt is not suitable for a nomination.
Hi Jack, The link goes to Amazon’s “Kindle Scout Page” for the book in question. That’s the way Amazon set it up. The idea is, as best I understand, is that a sampling of a couple chapters is enough for a reader to get an idea if the writing is good and if the story holds promise. A nomination doesn’t mean you give it a 5-star rating or anything, it just means, as a reader, you think the book has enough promise that you’d like to see it get published by Amazon. If you do nominate it, Amazon will give you a free FULL copy in time for you to read and review the entire book upon publication. Basically, you serve the role of literary agent–you are the first line in choosing whether the book is published or not by only reading what an agent or editor would read when making that decision. If that doesn’t sound fair, well, that’s the way the publishing business has been doing things for decades.
Hope that helps.
