A Little About Finding Emma:
No one likes Jack. His wife is gone and his neighbors avoid him. He’s a recluse and a creep and that’s just the way he wants it.
But when ten-year old Emma goes missing in the nearby woods, the eyes of his neighbors turn on him in fear and accusation, escalating as the days pass. The answers they–and the reader–get, however, are the last that anyone would suspect…
What Our Very Own, Anita, had to say about Finding Emma:
Jack is a divorced, work from home, free-lance illustrator. After his wife leaves him he lets his house and yard go figuring why not? He didn’t like to do those kinds of chores anyway and now he does not have anyone nagging him to do them. The only problem is, his neighbors and the homeowners association does not like the way he has let everything get run down, eventually forming a strong dislike for him. It doesn’t help that he really doesn’t care what anyone thinks about him. So what if they think he is antisocial? So what if they think he is strange? So what if they think bad things about him…that is until Emma goes missing. And then it matters. Because now they think he did something to her. They even point the police in his direction.
He tries to help in the search for Emma but everyone makes it perfectly clear his help is not needed. After a couple of detectives question him about his whereabouts he decides that he should help find her if just to throw suspicion off of himself since he knows he is innocent. One day he comes home to find Ron, Emma’s dad, searching his home, collecting `evidence’ against him. After an explosive confrontation he decides he will find out what really happened to Emma. And this is where unforeseen twists and turns come into the story.
Matthew Iden has written a very good, highly dramatic, didn’t see that coming, short story that will leave you saying, “Wow.” If mystery/thrillers are your kind of books then pick up a copy of “Finding Emma” today. You won’t be disappointed but you will be thoroughly entertained well beyond the final page turn.
